WINNING RESULTS!!

Overall Percentage of weight loss from starting weight to this morning's weigh in....

Drum roll please!!!!!!!

.
.
.
.
The winner is JAKE with 7.17%!!! CONGRATS BRO! Jake lost tons of weight in 7 weeks! I won't post how much because that would breech my contract of not disclosing personal weight information :) But he might tell you!

Runner ups:
Rachel 4.72%
Mama Shoff 4.25%
Amanda 4.03%
Janette 4.00%
Ben (Florida) 3.32%
James 3.26%
Ben (Utah) 1.98%
Mike 1.26%
Dianne 0.74%
Emily 0.68%
Chris 0.00%
Ricky 0.00%
Kayli 0.00%
Trent 0.00%

Collectively we lost 88.8 pounds in 7 weeks!!

Just a quick note. The weight loss percentages are calculated by
1. Dividing the number of pounds lost by the starting weight.
2. Multipling the answer to step 1 by 100
3. Example: 40 /330 x 100 = 12.12%

So even if one of us lost 10 pounds and another lost 5, the person who lost 5 may have a higher percentage lost. Make sense? I just wanted everyone to understand because some of y'all had some AMAZING numbers!! I'm so proud of us all!

I may start this again in January because it was extremely motivating for me :)

Week One Results

Thanks everyone! This has been so motivating! It's amazing how close the pounds lost were, but the percentages are based off of your starting weight.

Sheepishly I must announce that I (without cheating) am the winner. And it's all because I started eating light mayonnaise (yuck).

What's my prize? More light mayonnaise.

Amanda -1.96%
James -1.63%

Total pounds lost: an astonishing 35.4 pounds! WOOT!

Move Along

I lost a little bit of weight last week, so I got the crazy notion this morning to go for a jog. I obviously made it home, so I suppose it was a successful jog, but man that was tough. Thank heavens for my iPod and "Move Along" by All American Rejects. That song helped me home, big time.

Here is a question for the masses out there.....while I was running/jogging/swinging my arms back and forth quicker than ususal, I got a pretty good side stitch. I tried my best to run through it, but I couldn't. What causes these blasted things and is there a quick remedy besides magically being in shape overnight?

Pitfalls

I am pleasantly surprised by how well I've done this week. My weakness is sweets (shocker?) and also just being AWARE of how much I am eating. I started using a website to count my calories and to keep track of my activity. That was really helpful! After using it a couple days I realized that I was within my calories with my 3 meals a day with a small snack of fruit or veggies in between, but if this was last week I would have put the kidlets to bed and eaten a bowl of ice cream while reading a book. THAT is what puts my calories over. Also when I put in my exercise I saw that my calorie burn went WAY up! How exciting!!

So the pitfalls? Life. Wednesday Isaac got sick. His sickness wasn't too bad but he was up a lot in the middle of the walking around and restless. The next day Mason got it and Oh boy! Did he get sick! Poor little guy was just miserable and made my life a little hard. He's just now breaking his fever and feeling better, Thanks goodness!

So with all that I still got in three solid workouts and didn't eat ONE sweet thing at all Monday - Thursday. Friday I had to make cookies for Super Saturday. I didn't eat one while cooking them! Proud me moment! But at Super Saturday? I ate two. It was a moment of weakness :)
I won't tell you how many I ate on Sunday :I

Love,
Rachel

Baby Steps

The boys are very surprised, and perhaps a little bit embarrassed, that I can't do a sit-up. Hey, you try having your belly stretched out by nine months of twins (not to mention all the other babies), and then try to pretend you have muscle tone there! Abs of steel? Not me. More like abs of Jello ("bowl full of jelly" works very well for Santa, and see how popular he is?)

Rachel and Ben are inspiring me to try to get back into a more healthy routine, and get going with the exercises I had just started before Angelee's accident, now that things are calming down a bit. So I said to Angelee one morning, "Do you think Mama should get back to her exercising?" I was getting down on the floor to do some crunches, but she beat me to it. She laid down on her back, bent her knees, extended her little arms toward her feet, and said with a very labored voice, "Eighteen! Eighteen!" Then she flopped back, spread-eagled, and exclaimed, "Whew!" Just like Mama. How embarrassing! (For the record, I can do more than eighteen crunches in a row now. Really.)

My Day One

Thanks to Rachel and this competition, my "Day One" was yesterday. It worked out good, because it was National Walk to School Day. So, I put Dallin on the bus and THEN walked to his school. According to mapquest, it is only 2.89 miles away from my home. So, I loaded Sarah and Jarom up in the stroller and set off. I sure was feeling it by the time we got home. I haven't exercised in about 2 months and I could tell. I wanted to just lay on the couch the rest of the day, but my little munchkins wouldn't let me, thank heavens. I was also VERY hungry the rest of the day....had to fight off a lot of cravings. My body just isn't used to burning all those calories in one shot, I guess.

One more thing. Part of my walking trail goes through some bushy areas and I was thinking yesterday how many more calories I could burn if an alligator popped out of there and started chasing us! That would give me the extra motivation I needed to run instead of walk!

Ground Rules

HOW LONG WILL THIS LAST? November 24th the day before Thanksgiving. We can start another one after that if everyone wants

PRIZE MONEY It's suggested we have everyone donate one dollar for every pound you think you'll lose in six and a half weeks. Do whatever you can for your situation. Send you money to Ben and Rachel's house. Y'all know the address, right?

COMPETING AS COUPLES OR INDIVIDUALLY How about both!! I think we should split the prize money. Half goes to the overall winner and the other half the couple with the highest percentage of weight loss! What do you think?

CHEERING EACH OTHER ON Those that are pro worker outers, share your wealth of knowledge, because the whole point of this motivate each other and get into healthy habits

WEIGH INS Monday mornings. We'll get the results out by Monday night or Tuesday morning (depending on your punctuality! :)
